Settling In
All children are individuals and as such they have different views about leaving their main carers. Some take this in their stride; others find it a more difficult time to deal with. Before joining us we ask parents to complete a child entry record, which tells us about their child's existing routine, likes/dislikes, comforters etc. Parents may then come along for a couple of short introductory sessions with their child. During this time your child will build up a knowledge of the setting and learn to trust the people who will be looking after them in a safe and secure setting. It is at this point you can then plan the next step with staff. You may want to leave your child on the next visit to settle on their own or you may want to continue visiting until you feel ready to leave them. Staff will listen to your wishes and work with you to achieve a really positive start for your child.
Parental Involvement
We at Little Flyers are committed to working with parents/carers as partners to provide a positive environment for all children. We believe that the relationship between the setting and the parents/carer's is crucial to the well being, development and progress of every child. We welcome parents to the setting and there needs to be a very important two-way flow of information to ensure consistency of care.
In order to build up the relationships between the setting and the parents/carer's these are some of the methods we use:
Key Worker System
We have a key worker system in place, which creates a vital link between home and the setting. Your child's key worker will help both you and your child settle in and will monitor your child's progress throughout the time they spend with us.
Complaints
Hopefully we will not receive many complaints but we can assure you that we will deal with any in a prompt and fair manner. We aim to resolve any complaint through dialogue and mutual understanding and, in all cases; we put the interests of the child above all other issues. We provide sufficient opportunity for any complaint to be fully discussed, and then resolved.
All parents have the right, as a last resort, to appeal to Ofsted (address below); if they still feel that their complaint has not been properly addresses.
